…of the day: WindMobile launches with the Blackberry 9700 without a required contract!

Well, I am publishing two …of the day entries because of the news I just read about WindMobile, Canada’s newest mobile provider.  They’re launching with the Blackberry 9700, without requiring users to sign to a contract!

According to their site, “WIND Mobile will be the first wireless carrier in Canada to offer BlackBerry® service on a pre-paid or post-pay basis”.

Why is this exciting?  Because it’s a first in Canada and hopefully, because it will encourage competition in a market that is dominated by a handful of companies.  Prices and plan details haven’t been announced yet and I wasn’t able to find an official launch date on their site but it did say that they plan on making changes to their site as of tomorrow morning.  Let’s see what happens!

Visit the WindMobile site for more info.
